This process is to promote and encourage healthy eating habits for children in our care that last a lifetime.\r\n\r\nCooks plan menus in alignment with Public Health Regulations, Magic Triangle\u2019s Philosophy, Policies and Procedures, Paint your Plate: A Toolkit for Ontario Childcare Providers, and Eating Well with Canada\u2019s Food Guide.","sort-position_description":"sort-left-1","position_description-custom-title":"","position_description-hide-title":"off","position_description-hide-field":"off","position_description-field-tag":"div","position_description-field-tag-title":"div","position_description-field-class":"","position_responsibilities":"<ul>\r\n \t<li>Maintains a clean, sanitary and organized kitchen, while ensuring that cleaning schedules are followed\r\n<ul>\r\n \t<li>Ensure thermometers are working properly<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Wash and sanitize dishes<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Ensure all food items are checked for best before dates<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Remove trash and recyclables as required<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Organize and put away groceries, both food and nonfood items<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Maintain a work environment that exceeds Public Health requirements and Magic Triangle standards<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Prepare breakfast, lunch and afternoon snacks for all programs<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Serve meals in each program at the appropriate temperatures<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Take into account dietary requirements and restrictions (special diets, allergies, events, special occasions, religions or cultures)<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Prepare the appropriate amounts of food for each program<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Support the Supervisor in purchasing and ordering food in sufficient quantity, while respecting the determined budget<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Prepare and post the seasonal Menu for children, personnel and families.<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Attends work on a regular basis, arriving in a timely manner and following the schedule, as provided by the Supervisor, and understands the potential implications on program ratios<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Accountable for the safety and well-being of the children in their care at all times<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Brings potential problems and hazards to the attention of supervisors<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Follows current licensing requirements and Public Health requirements<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Actively participates in team meetings and ongoing professional learning related to food preparation or as requested by their direct supervisor<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Remains professional under pressure and demonstrates responsible decision-making capabilities in stressful or unexpected situations<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Follows Duty-to-Report protocol for neglect, and\/or unsafe child-related situations<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Documents and reports necessary building, room and yard repairs and\/or maintenance to the Supervisor<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Communicates any\/all concerns of a health and safety nature to an H&amp;S representative in a timely manner<\/li>\r\n \t<li>Promotes workplace positivity and open communication with peers<\/li>\r\n<\/ul>\r\n<em>*The above generally describes the duties of the position; however, childcare work is varied in nature.
